‘He had a tattoo that read ‘Blood & Sand’ and it sliced through his decisions every step of the way - I think it was because he grew up on an island.’Digitally printed and reclaimed fabric wall hanging, 2017
Perserving the aesthetics and ideals of a cult cultural product (the soap opera) through the creation and display of fan art.
This is part of an ongoing project that aims to understand the frameworks of fan activity that exist around the entertainment and culture industries and scenes. The aim is to explore this ‘fandom’ as a method to galvanise empathy, excitement and everyday cultural action (not political) in favour of sustainable communities.
Artworks within the project take the form of wall art, garments, paraphernalia and low-fi publications.
